Breville BCG820BSS Smart Grinder Pro
The Breville BCG820BSS Smart Grinder Pro offers a wide range of 60 grind settings, covering everything from fine espresso to French press. Its programmable dosing enables precise control over shot weight and extraction, with a digital timer that can be set in 0.2-second increments for consistent results. Direct grinding into the portafilter is supported, along with grinding into an airtight container, a gold-tone filter basket, or a paper filter, providing versatility for various brew methods. The conical burrs are designed to minimize heat buildup and produce uniform particles, helping preserve aroma and flavor for the Bambino’s 54mm portafilter. A user-friendly interface makes dialing in a profile straightforward for both beginners and advanced home brewers.
Performance notes include quick setup and reliable repeatability. The Smart Grinder Pro excels when you want repeatable espresso with a clean shot and a stable crema. Its broad setting range makes it suitable for dialing in lighter roasts that often require a finer grind, as well as darker roasts that benefit from a slightly coarser approach. For Bambino users, this grinder offers a balance of speed and precision, supporting quick mornings and weekend experimentation alike.
Breville Bambino Plus Bundle With Baratza Encore ESP
This bundle pairs the Breville Bambino Plus with the Baratza Encore ESP burr grinder, delivering a cohesive home espresso system. The Baratza Encore ESP provides 40 grind settings and European precision steel burrs, enabling precise control for espresso and other brew methods. The Bambino Plus itself features a ThermoJet heating system, achieving optimum extraction temperature in about 3 seconds, so you can enjoy quicker pull times. The bundle highlights the “DOSE CONTROL GRINDING” approach, with 19 grams suggested for a balanced, full-flavored shot. Together, the setup supports a streamlined workflow from grind to cup, with consistent dosing and reliable extraction across multiple roasts.
From a performance perspective, the Encore ESP is designed to produce a clean, uniform grind that helps prevent channeling and uneven extraction. The 40 settings allow for nuanced adjustments when chasing sweetness and body in lighter roasts, while still providing enough range for darker roasts. The Bambino Plus complements this with its compact footprint and fast heat-up, making it a practical option for daily use as well as weekend experimentation. Users can expect a smooth workflow, consistent dosing, and reliable crema with this bundle.
Breville 54mm Dosing Funnel Grey
The 54mm Dosing Funnel in grey is designed to fit Breville 54mm portafilters, including the Barista Touch, Barista Pro, and Barista Express, and it sits in the grind cradle of the machine. This accessory helps deliver a full 21-gram dose with minimal spillover, supporting accurate dosing when loading a portafilter. The funnel is lightweight yet durable, making it easy to handle during busy morning routines. By keeping grounds contained during grinding, it reduces mess on the counter and simplifies cleanup, which can be especially helpful for new users dialing in grind settings for the Bambino lineup.
In practice, using a dosing funnel can improve consistency by guiding grounds into the portafilter and limiting waste. For those who frequently swap beans or roast levels, the funnel minimizes the risk of accidental spills that might occur with hand dosing. It’s a simple upgrade that complements the Bambino system, keeping the workflow efficient and tidy while you explore different grind profiles for your preferred beans.
54mm Dosing Funnel For Breville Portafilters
This 54mm dosing funnel is compatible with Breville’s Barista Express, Barista Pro, and Barista Touch models, including the Bambino family. Its lightweight design facilitates a controlled pour and makes it easier to manage a 21-gram shot without spills. The funnel’s robust ABS construction offers ease of cleaning—just place it in the dishwasher or rinse and wipe. By capturing residual grounds, the funnel helps preserve the flavor integrity of your grind and reduces cleanup after pulling shots with the Bambino or other Breville machines.
From a user-experience perspective, this accessory suits households where multiple people share a single grinder. It promotes consistent dosing and minimizes mess, which can encourage more frequent home espresso sessions. While simple, the funnel complements a precise grind routine and can help users stay focused on dialing in the ideal grind size and dose for each roast profile.
Conical Grinder Burr Set Replacement For Breville
The Conical Grinder Burr Set Replacement from Brewvana provides stainless steel conical burrs designed to minimize heat during grinding, helping to preserve the coffee bean’s essential oils and maintain aroma. It’s intended as a replacement burr set for selected Breville espresso machines, not suitable for older machines with non-adjustable burrs or Etzinger burrs. This accessory supports a consistent grind size when you need to refresh your grinder’s performance or customize the grind for specific beans and roast levels. With high-quality construction, the burrs aim to deliver even particle distribution and more reliable extraction with the Bambino lineup.
In practice, replacing burrs can restore grind consistency that may decline with heavy use. The conical design typically offers efficient particle distribution and heat management, which helps maintain flavor integrity during espresso extraction. This accessory is best suited for users who want to extend the life of their Breville-compatible grinder and keep a steady grind quality across varying beans and roasts.
Buying Guide
- Grind consistency and burr design: Conical burrs generally provide smoother particle distribution and better heat management than some flat burrs. For the Breville Bambino, consistency translates to stable extraction and better crema.
- Grind settings and dosing control: Look for a grinder with a wide range of settings and precise dosing, especially if you frequently experiment with beans from different roasts. Digital timers and programmable doses help reproduce shots reliably.
- Direct grind vs. dosing cups: Some grinders offer direct-to-portafilter grinding, which reduces transfer losses and improves workflow. If you often switch between portafilter and dosing containers, a model with multiple output options adds flexibility.
- Compatibility with 54mm portafilters: Since the Breville Bambino uses a 54mm portafilter, choose grinders that perform well with 54mm baskets and standard dosing routines to maximize flavor extraction.
- Heat management: Grinders designed to minimize heat generation help preserve essential oils in the beans. This is especially important for long espresso sessions or tasting notes that depend on delicate aromas.
- Maintenance and replacement parts: Consider the availability of replacement burrs and easy cleaning. Burr wear can impact grind consistency, so check for dealer-supported parts and warranty terms.
- Bundle options and ecosystem: Bundles that pair a grinder with the Bambino Plus may deliver a cohesive, space-efficient setup. Look for compatible accessories (dosing funnels, portafilter baskets) to optimize the workflow.
- Size and footprint: If counter space is limited, prioritize compact grinders with solid build quality and stable baselining. A compact model can still deliver consistent espresso with the Bambino’s quick heat-up.
- Noise and energy use: Home espresso setups benefit from quieter operation and energy efficiency, especially in morning routines or shared living spaces.
